Dr. Schiavo's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Queensland. Following his graduation, he honed his skills at a number of South East Queensland's Hospitals, including Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, gaining valuable experience in various disciplines, including Emergency Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. This diverse medical background laid the foundation for his subsequent specialization in General Practice/Family Medicine, with a particular focus on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries.
Between 2009 and 2010, Dr Schiavo worked as the Acting Medical Superintendent at Kilcoy Hospital, gaining vast experience in Rural Medicine and Hospital Administration. In 2013, after witnessing the short falls of corporate owned medical centres, Dr. Schiavo founded and opened Chermside Family Medical Centre to bring back to the community the traditional family doctor practice to service the community.
However, in 2013, Dr. Schiavo's professional journey took a significant turn as he delved into the world of Interventional Regenerative Orthopaedic Medicine, a field known for its potential to revolutionize the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. His dedication to this discipline is evident in his development of new treatment protocols and techniques, including a novel musculoskeletal medicine model for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.
Dr. Schiavo's approach to patient care is both empathetic and holistic, emphasizing the importance of addressing the root cause of dysfunction rather than merely treating symptoms. He is an advocate for moving away from the "band-aid" medical model, seeking instead to provide treatment options that treat the root cause of disease and genuinely improve his patients' quality of life.
